Plane/Travel Necessities

I may or may not seem like an over prepared alarmist when I travel. I have always traveled a good amount. Just a few years ago I traveled 22 consecutive weekends – which now sounds like a nightmare, but it was wedding season! And note this was BEFORE I was diagnosed with Lyme. Since then I find myself sometimes getting sick post-flight, and if not, at least feeling so icky in the never cleaned plane, and re-circulated air.

I’ve learned a lot about the best ways to travel and what to bring. So I wanted to share! < & don’t miss some important plane info below!>

FIRST, buy yourself a fun travel pouch or accessories kit that you will get at least minimally excited to pack prior to each trip. My recs, from $$$-$: Louis Vuitton, Truffle, Stephanie Johnson

Planes!

Things to note: There is no FDA regulation around cleaning planes. This means they do not get cleaned - not the headrest, not the tray tables, not the pockets, not the seat belts and not the armrest. So it is up to YOU to look out for yourself. Clean using the above recs right when you sit down!

The plane uses potable water for anything from toilet water to the coffee and tea served. This means the water is stored in tanks that are also, rarely cleaned and can sit out on the tarmac for hours in the hot sun, making them a perfect breading ground for bacteria (according to multiple health agencies). Even a lot of the flights attendants won’t usually drink it!

In conclusion, make an effort to clean your area and don’t drink the coffee or tea on the plane or the water in the bathroom. Make sure it’s bottled. Also, use something to boost your immune system & stay moisturized in the dry air!

Entertainment

Last but not least, I always bring my kindle or download shows or documentaries from the Netflix app just in case I need some entertainment!

Happy Travels!
